Fun Things to Do in Orlando at Low Cost
Orlando, Florida, is known worldwide for its numerous adventure and theme parks, such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and others, but these can run you a lot of money. Admission is high, and once you get inside, there are additional costs for food, drinks and gifts. It is possible to find fun things to do in Orlando at a low cost.
Get Up Close and Personal With Gators
Gatorland consists of more than 100 acres to explore. It is a wildlife preserve, a zoo and a theme park all in one and has thousands of alligators, nearly 100 crocodiles, and numerous snakes, birds and other Florida wildlife. It offers shows, a petting zoo and a bird sanctuary. Gatorland is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends. As of 2009, tickets were $22.99 for adults, $14.99 for children ages 3 to 12 and free for children younger than 3.

Spend a Day at Old Town
Old Town has several reasonably priced restaurants, a number of amusement rides and almost 100 shops and boutiques. It also has weekend car shows and cruise events and many other events throughout the year. Parking and admission are free, but you will need tickets for rides. These are available separately or in several package deals. Old Town is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, with possibly different hours for rides and restaurants.

Play a Round of Miniature Golf Among Pirates
Pirate's Cove offers an adventurous round of golf for the whole family. It is known for its flourishing landscape, inventive hole designs and, of course, its pirate theme. You will find sunken ships, flowing waterfalls, dungeons, cannons and more throughout the course. Pirate's Cove is open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. For 2009, prices start at $9.95 for children and $10.95 for adults, going upward depending on the number of holes played.

Become Informed at the History Center
The Orange County Regional History Center in downtown Orlando has five stories full of enlightening displays. This includes exhibitions that are permanent and many that are short term. You can also catch some of the traveling or special exhibits throughout the year. These displays and exhibits give you a look into the history of central Florida. There are educational programs and family activities to explore as well. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission as of 2009 is $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, $7 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.
