Northeastern Ohio is comprised of some major cities including Cleveland, Canton and Akron, and some large but smaller cities including Warren, Elyria, Youngstown and Lorain. If you plan on spending some time in the Northeastern Ohio region, there are plenty of interesting things to do and see, including museums, zoos, gardens, theme parks, museums and more.
Akron Zoological Park
The Akron Zoological Park is a zoo that spans 50 acres in an area just west of the city's downtown district. The zoo consists of more than 700, among them Sumatran tigers, Humboldt penguins (an endangered species), Andean condors, North American river otters, Rodrigues fruit bats, Ruffed lemurs and many others. If you want to come face to face with a large variety of creatures, the Akron Zoological Park is an excellent place to visit.
Canton Museum of Art
The Canton Museum of Art is a museum that promotes visual arts via exhibits in its permanent collection and educational programs. The museum also has revolving exhibitions. The museum's permanent collection focuses greatly on contemporary ceramics as well as American watercolors from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The museum also offers art classes, with subjects including jewelry, textiles, drawing, painting and many others.
Cleveland Botanical Garden
The Cleveland Botanical Garden is one of the most beloved and popular attractions in northeastern Ohio. Located in the University Circle section of Cleveland, the gardens are composed of various indoor displays and gardens outside. Some of the notable features of the gardens include the herb garden, woodland garden and children's garden. The Glasshouse is also stunning, with its fascinating Madagascary Spiny Desert and Costa Rica Rainforest exhibitions.
I-X Indoor Amusement Park
The I-X Indoor Amusement Park is located inside of Cleveland's International Exposition Center and is approximately 20 acres in size. There are more than 150 games, rides and attractions at this amusement park. Live entertainment is also available at this park. Some of the most notable rides at this park include the I-X Center Ferris Wheel and the massive swing ride known as "Freak Out."
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the United States. Located in Cleveland, this museum is a tribute to recording artists, disc jockeys, songwriters, producers and many others who have made indelible marks and strides in the music industry. The museum is full of exhibitions, videos, documentaries, and valuable relics and artifacts from rock history.
