Things to Do in Lima, Ohio
Lima, Ohio, is the county seat of Allen County, located about 72 miles north of Dayton and 78 miles south-southwest of Toledo. It is not the biggest city in Ohio--its population is about 40,000--but it still has a wide variety of things to do. Days can be spent in museums or enjoying the outdoors, and nights can be spent enjoying everything from live entertainment to bowling.
Museums
Lima, Ohio, has two museums. The Allen County Museum is several buildings, including a Children's Discovery Center, a 1893 house, a log house, the Elizabeth M. MacDonell Memorial Library and a locomotive display. The Lima Firefighter's Memorial Museum is located in Lincoln Park and is dedicated to the 700 firefighters of the Lima Fire Department going back to its beginning in 1865.
Golf
Golf is one of the major attractions in Lima, Ohio, and there are nine golf courses in the city. The Hawthorne Hills Country Club has two courses--the 18-hole par 72 Hawthorne Hills Course and the 9-hole par 32 Executive Course. The Lost Creek Country Club has an 18-hole par 71 course. The Springbrook Golf Course has a 18-hole par 71. The Shawnee Country Club is a private club with an 18-hole par 72 course. The Sugar Creek Course is an 18-hole course. The Tamarac Golf Club has two courses--the Tamarac Coursea 18-hole par 72 and the Par-3 Course, a 9-hole par 27 course. The Oaks Golf Club has an 18-hole par 72 course. All of the courses, with the exception of the Shawnee Country Club, are public courses.
Attractions
Artspace Lima, an art gallery and educational center, encompasses the Ellen Nelson Gallery, Time Warner Cable ArtZone, Gallery for Young People and Gallery Shop. Children's Garden is the work of theOSU Extension, 4-H Master Gardeners and the Allen County Historical Society. It is a public garden with educational programs for children.
Crouse Performance Hall is the home for the Lima Symphony Orchestra and the Lima Area Concert Band. It also hosts special performances.
Restaurants
There are approximately 29 restaurants in Lima, Ohio, with a variety of food offerings including American, Chinese, Italian, Steakhouses, Seafood and Soul Food.
Nightlife
There are plenty of things to do at night in Lima, Ohio. The Alabi Lounge has happy hour every day, a DJ every Friday and Karaoke every Saturday. BW 3 has sports on big-screen televisions. Carm's has daily drink specials. Westgate Lanes has bowling, live entertainment and Karaoke. Harry's Hide-A-Way and Outback has Karaoke, pool, darts, a DJ and live bands. Louie's Night Club has Happy Hour anytime, 6 days per week.
