Lake Conroe is situated near
Houston, Texas, however, despite its proximity to this large Texas metropolis, it has a small-town, rural atmosphere. Surrounded by the calm waves of Lake Conroe, the city offers a variety of water and land activities for visitors and residents alike. There are numerous RV and camping parks available for nature lovers, as well as high-class condos and lodges. For residents, newly renovated marinas make boating and fishing a cinch. There is something for almost every personality type.
Golfing
All of Lake Conroe's golf courses are surrounded by the crisp, blue waters of Lake Conroe. The most highly rated golf course is the 18-hole Walden course, located on a peninsula that jets directly into the lake. Del Lago course is near Walden, and supplies 18 holes of golfing fun. Wedgewood and Texas National are open to the public, and 27 holes are located in the April Sound community, which also offer memberships to those who don't live in the community.
Fishing
An assortment of fish is available in Lake Conroe. The type of fish you find depends on the depth of water that you're located in. According to the official Website of Lake Conroe, black bass are found at eight to 18 feet deep, crappie fish are found at ten to 15 feet deep, catfish are found at 17 to 27 feet deep, larger blue catfish are found at 15 to 40 feet deep, and hybrids and white bass are found at 27 to 29 feet deep.
Water Sports
According to the official Website of Lake Conroe, boating brings the most tourists to Lake Conroe. If you live in or near Lake Conroe, you can park your boat at the newly revamped Palms Marina. Popular water sports include water skiing, jet skiing, wind surfing and sailing, or taking a cruise on the Southern Express riverboat.
Camping
For old-fashioned camping in a tent or under the stars, head to the 160,000-acre Sam Houston National Forest. Here you can enjoy a mixture of all of Lake Conroe's amenities, including fishing, hiking, boating and camping.
Special Events
Special events are planned year-round in Lake Conroe, which include symphony performances, luncheons for certain organizations, open mic nights at the corner pub, concerts, festivals, sporting events and more!
