Owosso, Michigan, is a city of nearly 16,000, situated approximately 85 miles from
Detroit. Winter temperatures can get down to the teens in Owosso, so many of the activities occur indoors--giving kids the chance to do their favorite things whenever they choose. Owosso may be a small city, but it is big on exciting things to do with kids--and with enough of a variety to please just about anyone.
Shepard's Indoor Speedway
Shepard's Indoor Speedway is a short, oval indoor go-cart track. The go-carts come with different size engines--either 10, 15 or 25 horsepower. New drivers can start out slow and work their way up to the most powerful go-carts. The carts are more like miniature cars, low to the ground with a wide wheel base for safety.

Rollhaven
Rollhaven in an indoor roller-skating rink with a game arcade and snack bar. There are lessons for skaters at all levels. If you happen to be here on the second Friday of the month, you can skate for free from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rollhaven is a popular place for birthday parties.

Steam Railroading Institute
The Steam Railroading Institute is a 7-acre complex with a collection of antique steam and diesel train engines and cars including sleepers, box cars and Army medical transport cars. You can take a ride in one with a steam or diesel engine. They also sponsor two special events each year. In July, they have a Train Festival, and in November and December kids can take a ride to the North Pole to meet with Santa.

Curwood Castle Museum
Curwood Castle Museum was once the private home of James Oliver Curwood, a best-selling author and conservationist of the 1920s. He built the castle in 1922, and today it houses mementos of his life as well as antiques and an exhibit on Thomas E. Dewey.

NCG Owosso Cinemas
NCG Owosso Cinemas is a first-run, six-screen movie theater with family-friendly features. They also show 3D moves and concerts. They have a special dinner and movie combo where you get a gift certificate that can be used at a variety of local restaurants.
