There are things to do with kids in
New York on every corner. There are museums, amusements and educational resources to be found throughout the city. Kids enjoy any experience that is hands-on, such as taking a ride on a Ferris wheel or allowing a stingray to slide through their fingers. Science experiments and playgrounds are also a favorite amusement of children. These attractions are open year-round and are easy, affordable things to do with kids in New York.
Toys 'R Us
Located in the heart of Times Square, this fun and eventful toy store comes complete with a Ferris wheel. Inside the store, a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex takes you back to prehistoric times; while every little girl can feel like a princess in the life-size Barbie dollhouse.
There is a minimal admission fee to ride the Ferris Wheel; however, the remaining attractions are free. The store opens 10 a.m. daily and closes at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 9 p.m. Sunday.

New York Aquarium
Experience life under the ocean with a 4-D movie of the shallow seas. You can view many exhibits at the New York Aquarium, including loggerhead sea turtles, stingrays, sea lions and numerous types of fish. The Aquarium also offers a beach area where you can explore and touch different type of marine animals, and even experience a 400-gallon tidal wave.
General admission fees begin for kids age 3; viewing of the 4-D movie is additional. The Aquarium opens each morning at 10 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. during the week and 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays throughout the year.

New York Hall of Science
Allow your kids to have fun with more than 400 hands-on experiences and activities. This science center offers many exhibitions, including the Science Playground, Sports Challenge and Rocket Park. Kids can learn about the earth and astronomy as well as biochemistry, microorganisms and life beyond earth.
The museum is open year-round. From September to June, everyone can enjoy free admission on Fridays from 2-5 p.m. and Sundays from 10-11 a.m.
