Things to Do in Glenwood Springs
Glenwood Springs is a small town located in Garfield County, on the far western border of Colorado. It is within an hour's drive of some of the country's best ski resorts, including Aspen, Vail, and Beaver Creek. Though many pass through Glenwood of their way to and from the slopes, this town has plenty of its own attractions to offer to visitors. From natural hot springs to unique shops and restaurants, there's plenty of fun to be had in this small mountain town.
Glenwood Hot Springs

The most popular attraction here is the town's hot springs, which are fed into a pool that spans three city blocks and is kept at a natural 90 degrees year round. Next to this pool is a smaller therapy pool that is kept at 104 degrees. Both feature natural mineral water that many believe has healing properties. Next to the pool is a spa that offers massage, natural health remedies and mineral treatments. There is a smaller pool for the kids, with water slides included with your admission. Though the springs are popular year round, there's nothing like sitting in the pools in the winter with views of snow-capped mountains.

Exploring Downtown

Visitors to Glenwood Springs will find great shopping downtown around Grand Street. Eclectic shops can be found in historically preserved storefronts. Everything from climbing gear to the latest fashions are available, and there are no chains or big box retailers to be found. Sprinkled among the shops, visitors will find a variety of restaurants and coffee shops, many of which feature all-natural and vegetarian ingredients. There is a farmers market on Tuesday nights at Grand Avenue and 9th Street, where fresh produce and crafts can be purchased from local vendors.

Glenwood Caverns

Glenwood Caverns is a massive system of caves located high up on the mountains near town. Formally known as the "Fairy Caves," the caverns can be reached only by a tram ride above the mountains. There are several tours available, all of which are well lit and led by a professional guide. Once up on the mountain, families will enjoy the many children's rides near the caves, as well several dining options. For adventure seekers, there are some incredible thrill rides, including an alpine coaster and a bungee swing. There is also an observation deck here that provides spectacular views of Glenwood Springs and the surrounding landscape.
