Although you probably can't throw a rock without hitting someone in a cowboy hat or cowboy boots, the
Dallas/Fort Worth area is more than cattle, cowboys and oil. In fact, the Dallas/Fort Worth area is a world-renowned metropolis with a wide range of activities, attractions and events. Dallas/Fort Worth has world-famous museums, fine dining restaurants, ballet, symphonies and the like. Of course, there are also the Texas activities most people think of such as rodeos, barbecue, cattle ranches and oil fields.
Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, Dallas
Come for the roasted chicken, herb-basted potatoes and "pastry of the Castle," and stay for the show. The show is almost two hours of medieval knights in combat, horse riding and falconry. Many shows are sold out, so be sure you get your tickets in advance. Arrive as early as possible to get the best seats.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Fort Worth
Visit the only museum in the world that honors women of the Old West. The museum's exhibits show the life of the pioneer woman. With more than 2,500 photographs and 5,000 artifacts, such as spurs, boots and saddles, there is something for anyone interested in women of the Old West.

Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas
The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the best art museums in the country. You will be able to view Pacific Islands, European and ancient American art. There are also exhibits dedicated to decorative arts and King Tut. The Dallas Museum of Art is closed on Mondays and all legal holidays.

Billy Bob's Texas, Fort Worth
Pop in to Billy Bob's Texas. Known as "The World's Largest Honky Tonk," Billy Bob's offers something for everyone. They have dance lessons, concerts and live bull riding. Or if live bull riding isn't for you, you can ride the mechanical bull. They also have a restaurant and a gift shop. Surprisingly, "The World's Largest Honky Tonk" is open to children, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
