Allentown, Pennsylvania is a city in the eastern part of the state, about 50 miles north of Philadelphia and 90 miles west of New York City. Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom is located just outside Allentown, but there is plenty to do right in the city as well with a wide choice of museums to visit, sports to play and professional sports teams to watch.
Festivals

Allentown, Pennsylvania has one big annual festival in May. The Mayfair Festival of the Arts features an Artist's Market, entertainment for the whole family and plenty of food vendors.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Allentown has been holding a St. Patrick's Day Parade on the weekend after St. Patrick's Day for more than 50 years. The day begins with a special breakfast and the parade kicks off at 1:30 p.m. from the fairgrounds.

Spectator Sports

The city is also home to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, a minor league affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillis in the AAA International League. You can catch their games at Coca-Cola Park. Two soccer teams also call Allentown home. The Pennsylvania Stoners is a team in the National Premier Soccer League. The Northampton Laurels FC is a member of the Women's Premier Soccer League. Both play home games at J. Birney Crum Stadium.

Concerts

Allentown Symphony Hall is home to the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. They also host a Jazz Cabaret Series from January through June. Concerts are also held at the Allentown Fairgrounds throughout the year, as well as at the Crocodile Rock Café.

Golf

There are three golf courses in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The Allentown Municipal/Benner Fairways Golf Course, Allentown Course is a par 72, 18-hole course. The Iron Lakes Golf Course an 18-hole par 71 course. As the only private club in Allentown, the Lehigh Country Club has an award-winning 18-hole par 70 course.

Museums

The Allentown Art Museum has a permanent collection that includes Italian Renaissance Paintings. Other museums include the Museum of Indian Culture, Old Court House County Museum, Bicycle Crossing Museum, America on Wheels Museum, The Mack Trucks Historical Museum, Lehigh Valley Historical Society Museum and the Liberty Bell Shrine Museum.
