Steak Restaurants in Tacoma, Washington

The Puget Sound, Washington State
The Puget Sound, Washington State
Tacoma, Washington is about one hour south of Seattle, Washington. Though Seattle gets most of the attention in the state, Tacoma offers visitors many of the same attractions as Seattle. This includes a location on Puget Sound for boating, a quick drive east puts you in the Cascade range including Mount Rainier, the largest peak on the West coast, and a longer drive across the Sound onto the Olympic Peninsula leads you to the Olympic National Park, a one million-acre national wilderness preserve. Though seafood and Asian cuisines have made the Washington area famous, the state boasts a wide variety of other restaurants. This includes many steak restaurants, several of which are in Tacoma.
Woodys on the Water

Woodys comes situated on the Tacoma waterfront with table views of the Thea Foss Waterway of the Puget Sound. A major shipping and cruise line lane, the waterway always has activity for diners to view.

Woodys has a fusion menu typical of the Pacific Northwest. They are not strictly a steak-only restaurant. The diner can order a selection of seafood, pasta or steak. Woodys offers steakhouse mainstays such as top sirloin, rib-eye, filet mignon and even a sirloin burger. Woodys also includes combination plates of steak and shrimp or steak and crab legs. Any of the steak plates can come Oscar style (crab and sauce topping) for an additional charge. Woodys serves only choice quality or better steaks.

Stanley and Seafort's Steak Chop and Fish House

Stanley and Seaforts resides up the hill from Woodys. Though not located on the waterfront, this restaurant provides broader views than Woodys. Located up from the waterfront, many tables can see all of the Southern Puget Sound and the Olympic Range to the west. Those in the back of the restaurant face east and can see the Cascade Range and the towering Mount Rainier.

Just like Woodys, the restaurant combines the region's famous seafood with top-quality steak. The chop house provides all the classics: the petite filet, filet mignon, sirloin strip, center cut New York strip, bone-in rib-eye and rock-salted prime rib. It further provides a 10 oz. non-frozen hand-formed burger and Kobe meatloaf and Kobe sliders. Again, like Woodys, the restaurant has combination dishes. Diners can chose to complement their steak with garlic prawns, crab and bearnaise sauce, half pound of King crab legs or grilled North Atlantic Maine lobster tail. The truly hungry can select multiple combinations.

Stanley and Seaforts also offers a weeknight (Sunday to Thursday) special of a $25 three-course meal between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m (price and special as of February 2010).

Pacific Grill

Pacific Grill is situated in the middle of Tacoma's downtown in an area called "Restaurant Row." Food and Wine 2009 named head chef Gordon Naccarato one of the "Top 10 Best New Chefs in America."

Pacific Grill has broken up its menu into two main categories: from the Pacific and from the grill. Seafood dominates the Pacific side of the menu, but the grill offers a good range of steaks. This includes grilled Angus New York, filet mignon, steak salad that comes with grilled Kobe beef and Kobe top sirloin. Guests can add Australian lobster medallions to any steak dish at a market price surcharge.
