When most people think of spring break, palm trees and sunshine pop into their heads.
beaches and beer and bikini-clad girls are also in the picture. Not too many people consider
Dallas. However, it's a great place to visit on that school visit, for both families and those in college. There is a ton to do in Dallas and there will likely be something for even the pickiest spring break traveler. From theme parks and nightlife to museums and galleries, Dallas will titillate and inspire just about everyone.
Speedzone
The Malibu Speedzone in Dallas gets a lot of traffic during spring break. It's a great family place with lots to do for both kids and adults. A mini golf course is set up that provides some challenging courses, so even if you're a pro you'll love it. Go carts are a fun for kids and college aged adults who feel like reliving their childhood. Multiple tracks provide a variety of racing experiments, and when you're tired of going head to head with your friends, you can check out some of the other attractions. This includes an arcade with over 100 cutting edge and classic games, and even a roller coaster!
Downtown Dallas
When the sun sets and all the spring break families are tucked in, the real party kicks into gear. Downtown Dallas is the place to be at this time, as many great bars and clubs open their doors. If you are interested in checking out some of the local talent, head over to art bar. Here, Dallas' best (an not-so-best) musicians, comedians and other entertainers come for various open mic nights. It's best when there's live music playing, though. After bar hopping for a while, check out one of the clubs in the area. The Balcony Club is great if you like jazz music, while the Clear Ultra Lounge is perfect if you want to dance and scope out all the good looking people.
Museums and Galleries
For the more culturally inclined or for those seeking intellectual stimulation during spring break, check out some of the fine museums and galleries Dallas has to offer. The Dallas Center for Contemporary Art is home to an impressive collection of contemporary art and there are a number of rotating exhibits, so there will always be something new, even if you've already been there. The Museum of Nature and Science resembles many other natural science museums, but is a great place for those who enjoy nature in all its many facets. Other museums of note are the Dallas Firefighter Museum and the African American Museum.
