Southern California Vacation Information
From
Los Angeles to Orange County to
San Diego, Southern California offers the best of any vacation destination. With superb weather, frequent transportation connections and a host of indoor and outdoor activities, a traveler can easily spend an entire month there and not see everything.
Weather
The area boasts mild weather with an average of the high 60s F in the winter in the low 80s F in the summer. Infrequent rains come from November through March.
Airports
Los Angeles/Orange County airports include Los Angeles International (LAX), Long beach (LGB), Ontario (ONT), Orange County (SNA) and Burbank (BUR). San Diego (SAN) also has an airport.
Accommodations
Lodging ranges from $50 a night in outlying areas to several hundred dollars for rooms by the beach as of August 2009.
Transportation
Unless you plan to stay in one small area such as downtown San Diego, you'll need to rent a car. Rental companies are easy to find at the airport and large hotels, and near tourist areas.
Sights
You'll find miles of spectacular beaches; mountains for hiking and skiing; urban clubs, restaurants and shopping; and famous theme parks such as Disneyland and Universal Studios.
