South Carolina has a thriving tourism industry that generates revenue, creates jobs and attracts tourists worldwide. The South Carolina Statistical Abstract states that South Carolina tourism created $16.7 billion in revenue in 2007. The Palmetto State attracts 30 million visitors per year to attractions such as Charleston, Hilton Head Island and Myrtle beach. Middleton Place

Middleton Place is an 18th century plantation that has been converted into a museum in recent years. This 65-acre plantation became a National Historic Landmark due to the Middleton family's involvement with the Declaration of Independence and South Carolina's Ordinance of Secession. Standard adult admission gives tourists access to the stable yard, gardens and a brief tour of the grounds. Visitors to Middleton Place can take museum tours and carriage rides around the grounds for extra fees.

Freestyle Music Park

Freestyle Music Park is a music-themed amusement park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Visitors to Freestyle Music Park enjoy rides like Big Ol' Trucks, Iron Horse and Round About set to country and classic rock music. The park has a multitude of dining options including the Big Q Smokehouse and Thunderin' Lightning. The nightly fireworks show at Freestyle Music Park is called Kiss the Sky and provides an exclamation point on a fun day of rides, food and music.

Columbia Museum of Art

The Columbia Museum of Art is located in downtown Columbia and offers art, education and entertainment to its patrons. The Kress Collection includes Baroque and Renaissance paintings that are central to the museum's permanent exhibits. Guests can plan their trips around theatrical performances and musical performances in the year round Wadsworth & Friends Concert Series. The Columbia Museum of Art and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina offer free admission to the museum's permanent exhibits on Sundays.

Hilton Head Island is home to The Golf Academy at The Sea Pines resort. The Golf Academy's experienced instructors offer one-day courses to shore up short games and swings. Avid golfers can schedule three-day courses at the Golf Academy that include daily lunches, 12 hours of instruction total and personalized golf tips.
