Palm Canyon Drive

Palm Canyon Drive is a glamorous street, and district of shopping, dining and entertainment. On Thursday nights (from 6-10 p.m. October through May and 7-10 p.m. June through September except holidays) for Villagefest, the area between Amado and Baristo Roads is transformed into an old-fashioned street fair complete with more than 200 booths -- food vendors, musicians, arts and crafts sellers and a Farmers Market. A BOLT sign in the window of the street's shops, galleries and restaurants indicates it's a Business Open Late on Thursday. Your dog is welcome at Villagefest too.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

On the north edge of Palm Springs, you can ride the world's largest rotating tram cars on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway taking you high into the mountains overlooking the Coachella Valley. Once atop the mountain, enjoy lunch or dinner from one of two restaurants--Peaks, a fine dining restaurant with a view of the Coachella Valley, or Pines Cafe, serving food cafeteria-style and cocktails in the lounge. Cars begin running at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays and depart every 30 minutes (or more frequently). The last car runs up at 8 p.m. and descends at 9:45 p.m. Annual maintenance is scheduled in September for approximately two weeks. Discounted admission is available after 3 p.m.
