Shingleton is a small town in Michigan's Alger County. About ten miles southeast of Munsing, the town is rich with natural resources. Camping, kayaking, canoeing and walking down nearby snow trails during winter are favorite outdoor activities. Area hotels are small but provide top quality accommodations and service.
Woodland's Hideaway Motel
Woodland's Hideaway Motel is a short drive from Lake Superior and 10 minutes from Munising, one of the larger towns in the area. There are three guest suites at the motel. Rooms come with a refrigerator, microwave, dining room table, kitchen sink and queen size bed. If you need extra bedding, there is a pull down futon that two additional people can sleep on. The rooms are large and spacious and resemble small apartments. There is an on-site laundry facility. The motel is next door to the Woodland's Restaurant where you can dine on fresh seafood, eat from the buffet and sip on soda or beer. The cost per room ranges from $200 to $250 per night.

Shannon Cabin at Nevins Lake
The three-bedroom log cabin is a non-smoking accommodation near the Lake Superior Forest. Two of the bedrooms come with a full bathroom and are on the main floor. There are two double beds in one of the two rooms and a double bed and a bunk bed in the other room. The third bedroom is on the second floor and is equipped with a double bed and a half bathroom. The cabin has a television, fully furnished kitchen, laundry room and snack bar. Pets are not allowed. The cost for a room for one to four adults is $200 per night. A room for five to eight guests cost $250 per night. Children 11 years old and younger are free.

Kaufmann's Cabin
Located between Munising and Grand Marais, Kaufmann's Cabin is situated at the edge of Nevins Lake. The cabin has two main floor guestrooms with a full sized bed in each room. The loft has a double bed and four twin beds. There are two full bathrooms at the cabin. Linen is provided. However, you are encouraged to bring your own paper towels and toiletries. The non-smoking cabin is equipped with deck, television, microwave, laundry room and full kitchen. Room rates range between $200 and $275 per night.
