San Francisco Restaurant Facts
San Francisco has one of the most diverse restaurant scenes of any U.S. city, and it has some of the best places for that quick bite, a family-fun meal, or a
romantic dinner by candlelight. Popular places are located on the famed Fisherman's Wharf, in the downtown business district and scattered through trendy neighborhoods such as the Mission District. Great local seafood, highly acclaimed vegetarian and top-rate Italian and Asian cuisine are popular with locals, traveling business suits and tourists.
Veggie Dining with a View
San Francisco has many restaurants with a view of the city's famous bay. One is Greens Restaurant, a vegetarian place on the water near the Golden Gate Bridge. Not only is it one of the country's premier vegetarian restaurants, it is considered a pioneering fine-dining veggie place. Greens serves seasonal organic produce and high-quality ingredients, emphasizing a balance of colors and flavor along with a contrast of textures. Cuisines from the Mediterranean, Mexico and the U.S. Southwest influence the menu.

The Franciscan Crab Restaurant features crab, oysters and mussels along with its own burrata and salumi. Located on Fisherman's Wharf, it overlooks the bay, the Golden Gate, the Bay Bridge, the city skyline and Alcatraz.
A neighbor on Fisherman's Wharf is Alioto's. It is one of San Francisco's oldest restaurants. Known for Italian fish stew, cioppino, among many other unique dishes, this family-run establishment has a curbside crab stand, Cafe 8, and an outdoor crab market.

Neighborhood Trendy
Delfina is another popular San Fran Italian restaurant. Located in the Mission District, it has a noisy bar and dining area. But don't let that stop you from enjoying traditional Italian dishes along with a bit of the nontraditional, including wild boar sausage and quail.
For those who enjoy Asian food, The Slanted Door is a Vietnamese restaurant in The Embarcadero. It is located in the northeast corner of the restored Ferry Building near the foot of Market Street. Features include ecologically farmed meat, game and poultry along with fresh-squeezed and organic juices and unique Chinese teas. The dining area includes a heated patio.
