Reviews on Smugglers' Notch, Vermont

Smugglers' Notch is the top family ski resort in the East. There is childcare for babies 6 weeks to 2 years old, ski and snowboard programs for kids 3 to 12, a teen center and plenty of apres-ski activities. The trails may not challenge the most expert skier, but there are plenty of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails to keep your ski trip interesting. In summer, there are giant waterslides, or you can hike or mountain bike.
Wows and Woes

The full range of year-round activities will keep you occupied round the clock. The casual restaurants offer convenient and reasonably priced meals on-site. The fun zone, filled with inflatable climbing equipment, is a great way to spend the evening. But the ski lift lines can be very long and cold, especially during peak times.

Insider Tips

Pick up ski rental equipment the night before you need it to avoid long lines.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

The programs to get kids on skis are the perfect combination of learning and fun; instructors are compassionate and encouraging. My 3-year-old was schussing down the mountain her first day out.

Bottom Line

Smugglers' Notch packages include lessons, rentals, even child care during special family weekends. The resort has a "family fun" guarantee that everyone will enjoy themselves.
