Reviews of the Hotel Pennsylvania in NYC

The Hotel Pennsylvania is centrally located on 34th Street and the corner of 7th Avenue. Nestled in the heart of Manhattan's famous Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the establishment is just minutes from New York's popular fashion and theatre districts, Koreatown and Times Square. Standard rooms are clean and offer either one twin or one double bed and include private bathrooms, telephones with voice mail alerts and pay-per-view cable TV. The hotel also includes a fitness room and health club. Pets are welcome.
Wows and Woes

For a two-star hotel that offers affordable pricing, the rooms are clean and the location cannot be beat.

While the rooms are neat, they are a bit dark and definitely need updating. The front desk is not properly organized, making the agents a bit unfriendly at times. The lines for checking in and out are always combined, making for a long wait.

Insider Tips

Make the best of the location and try and spend most of your time enjoying the sights and sounds of New York City. Koreatown is a great little neighborhood just one block over on 8th Avenue; it boasts some of Manhattan's best kept dining and entertainment secrets, such as private karaoke rooms and some of the best Korean barbecue in the city.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I lived in New York for many years and my husband actually proposed to me in line at the lobby of the Hotel Pennsylvania. In true New York style, the front desk agent told us to hurry up because we were holding up the line. It was great!

Bottom Line

The hotel is in a fantastic location for such an affordable price. If you don't expect much more than a simple, clean room and bathroom you'll be satisfied.
