Staybridge Suites, Chatsworth, CA
The Staybridge is an all-suite hotel will 114 rooms divided between one and two bedrooms. It offers complimentary buffet breakfast, high speed wireless Internet, and evening gatherings three nights a week. It is conveniently near major highways in the area that go into
Los Angeles or up to Santa Barbara and points north. This property caters mainly to corporate travelers, but is a great location for people visiting California State University, Northridge. It is also part of the Intercontinental hotel chain, which has a good rewards points program.
Wows and Woes
One bedroom suite
Guest rooms are comfortable and roomy with a separate living room area. There is a barbecue area, gym, and best of all a complimentary laundry room for guests to use. Combine this with a nice heated pool and spa, and it can be a home away from home.
There is a full modern kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and cook top, but no oven. The location is also out of the way for major attractions in the Los Angeles area if that is the purpose of the trip.
Insider Tips
Don't miss the sundowner evenings, which are held Tuesdays through Thursdays. They offer excellent wine and appetizers and provide a chance for extended stay residents to get to know one another. This can be invaluable for those on long term business assignments in the area. Although a rental car is highly suggested, the hotel is walking distance from the Chatsworth station of Metro Link/Amtrak.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Bob's Chair
In the lobby there is a stool named "Bob's Chair." It is dedicated to a former hotel owner that had a reputation for making people feel welcome. It seemed symbolic to me, but more than that a true testament to the people who run the hotel today. All the amenities and perfect locations in the world cannot compare with the hospitality at this Staybridge Suites.
Bottom Line
Lobby and restaurant
Staybridge Suites is a jewel in a suburbs of Los Angeles with terrific amenities and friendly staff. Though not the closest to major attractions, it is in a safe neighborhood.
