Pool area
This very-off-the-Strip
resort is geared toward a gambling lover who wants to stay away from the main drag of
Las Vegas. With one- and two-bedroom villas, and an on-site spa, pool, water slides and ticket broker, although this is off the beaten path, it offers a different Las Vegas than what most people are used to.
Wows and Woes
The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable, and do a great job of keeping the noise level low. The location away from everything ensures a quiet night's sleep can be had.
The free shuttle vans to the Strip are tiny and old. One broke down during a late-night jaunt back from the MGM Grand.
Insider Tips
Not sure how they do it, but the ticket brokers can get seats at any show in all of Las Vegas, and for a cheaper price than even the half-price brokers on Las Vegas Boulevard.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Upon check-in, the room had a very distinct and pungent odor. We quickly called the front desk to complain and within minutes, a housekeeper came and sprayed the entire place with a vanilla scent. She also used the good old-fashioned Glade plug-in to make sure the disgusting smell did not return.
Bottom Line
It's a great combination of going to Las Vegas but staying in a Palm Springs-like atmosphere. If relaxation is in order, Cancun will succeed.
