Halfway between Manhattan and Buffalo in Herkimer County, 2,537 residents call the village of Frankfort home, according to the 2000 Census. The Herkimer County area offers summer visitors 40 golf courses, an extensive hiking trail system, and fishing and boating on the Erie Canal and the Fulton Chain of Lakes. Winter visitors enjoy skiing and miles of snowmobiling trails, according to the county's website. Dining options are plentiful in Herkimer County and the greater Frankfort area.
Fratello's Pizzeria
Fratello's Pizzeria serves pizza and Italian fare in a casual atmosphere with takeout, delivery and catering services available in addition to dining at the restaurant. With extensive menu offerings beyond pizza, hot and cold sub sandwiches, wraps and Panini are options for lunch. Dinner alternatives to pizza include seafood such as calamari and broiled haddock, and pasta entrees such as shrimp scampi and chicken Alfredo. Unique pizzas at Fratello's include upside down, chicken wings and eggplant and a full-sheet sized pizza is available in addition to traditional small, medium and large. Dominique's Chesterfield Restaurant
Located five miles west of Frankfort, the Chesterfield Restaurant is a 10-minute drive and offers homemade Italian fare in a historic setting. With a motto "Old School with a Twist," the Chesterfield features a varied menu of traditional favorites such as lasagna and chicken parmigiana or more modern dishes such as broccoli rabe ravioli and veal Grand Marnier. Other dinner entrees include seafood, veal, gnocchi and steak. Lunch service includes house specialties, salads, pasta, and gourmet sandwiches such as yellow fin tuna and filet Mignon. A wine list is available and Friday nights feature party music and a festive atmosphere. Reservations are accepted and takeout orders are available at the Chesterfield.
