Frenchtown, New Jersey, offers visitors a number of dining options.
Incorporated in 1867, Frenchtown, New Jersey, is situated near the Pennsylvania-New Jersey state border, approximately 30 miles northwest of Trenton, New Jersey, and 40 miles north of
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For tourists, Frenchtown is a popular destination for its boutique and specialty shops and its annual events like the Art of the Bike and Bluegrass Festival, Riverfest and the Pumpkin Festivals. Visitors to Frenchtown have a number of dining options to choose from with choices ranging from fine dining to casual sports bars.
The Frenchtown Inn
Situated inside a home built in 1805, the Frenchtown Inn received rankings of "very good to excellent" for its food, decor and service from Zagat, according to Zagat Survey's website. The restaurant is also a past recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and a recipient of a perfect five-star rating from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Among the restaurant's signature dinner entrees is the beef filet served with a hash made from blue cheese, scallion and Yukon gold potatoes all topped with a burgundy wine sauce. Seafood lovers may opt for the seafood medley, a combination of lobster, shrimp, bay scallops and spinach served in a sherry-cream topped with a bouchee or pastry shell. The Frenchtown Inn serves lunch and dinner daily with the exception of Sundays when the restaurant is closed. Reservations are required. Upscale casual dress is appropriate. Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting.

Race Street Cafe
The Race Street Cafe describes its menu as continental, indicating that it incorporates the culinary traditions of a number of European countries. The chef varies the dishes served weekly, incorporating fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Examples of previous offerings include chicken Romano, chicken with Portobello mushrooms in a burgundy wine sauce and shrimp in a garlic-caper wine sauce served over angel hair pasta. Although it does not have a liquor license, the restaurant does permit guests to bring their own bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner. The Race Street Cafe is open Thursdays through Sundays for lunch and dinner only. Reservations are suggested. Casual attire is the norm when dining at the Race Street Cafe.

The Shack Sports Bar & Grill
A casual establishment, The Shack Sports Bar & Grill is known for its large-screen television that shows a variety of sporting events as well as special events like trivia contests and poker tournaments. The restaurant's menu begins with more than 15 appetizers that range from traditional pub favorites like onion rings and mozzarella sticks to less-common selections like empanadas and clams casino. Entrees include steak and shrimp or crab leg combinations, baby back ribs, shrimp Alfredo, grilled chicken and shrimp ceviche. The bar serves more than 90 kinds of bottled beers and malt beverages as well as 100 varieties of liquor. The Shack Sports Bar & Grill is open daily for lunch and dinner. Live music is featured frequently on the weekends. A night club is located adjacent to the restaurant.
