Charlotte has recently been noted as one of the most affordable cities in America. Many great restaurants are scattered throughout the downtown area.
Ratcliffe on the Green
Ratcliffe on the Green is located directly in the epicenter of Charlotte. The restaurant is owned by Zach Goodyear, while the executive chef is Greg Balch. The restaurant is open seven days a week. Ratcliffe on the Green is known for using organic ingredients that are locally grown. The restaurant is in located in the building that used to house the historic Ratcliffe Flower Shop which was first opened in 1929. The cuisine at Ratcliffe on the Green can be described as classic Carolina comfort food. The wine list is extensive, and there are separate menus for lunch and dinner. Many of the entrees change with the seasons, but some favorites include pan-seared ribeye and Beef Wellington.

The Capital Grille
The Capital Grille is located in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in the downtown finical center of Charlotte. The restaurant is part of a large chain that has locations across the country. The Capital Grille is open seven days a week, and serves both lunch and dinner. Up to 56 guests can be accommodated at the restaurant. The lunch and dinner menus are both separate. The cuisine can be described as a fusion of all different styles of cooking, and they offer great steaks, salads, seafood, and more. Steaks are the specialty at The Capital Grille, and the seared tenderloin and sliced Filet Mignon are top-notch.

Rí Rá
Rí Rá is located in downtown Charlotte, and is an Irish-style pub and restaurant. The restaurant is owned and operated by a large chain that has locations in many other cities in the United States. The Charlotte location was the first to be opened in 1997. The chefs at Rí Rá describe the food as "Irish bistro style." This means that they attempt to fuse traditional Irish recipes with American favorites. The restaurant is open seven days a week, and features daily specials. The lunch and dinner menus are separate. Some of the favorites from the menu include the Gaelic steak, Shepherds Pie, Lamb stew and corned beef and cabbage.
