What Is the Most Reasonable Hotel in New York City?
New York City is a wonderful place to take your family to go on vacation, but it can be difficult to find a hotel room that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Most trusted hotel chains do have locations in New York City, but the rooms may be much smaller and the price tags much more expensive than your family may be used to. You do not have to abandon New York City, however, in order to have a fun urban
family vacation, as there are a few hidden hotel gems in New York that you can actually afford. In order to determine the most reasonable hotel in New York City, consider a few of the options below and weigh cost versus comfort.
Downtown Manhattan
For families, it doesn't get much more reliable than the Howard Johnson Express Inn. Howard Johnson Express features a continental breakfast, which is a rarity in New York Hotels. Although the rooms may be smaller than what you'd normally expect for your typical suburban Howard Johnson, the rates are not much higher than you would expect at your usual family hotel.

If you are staying in New York City on a business trip and prefer style over free food, the Cosmopolitan Hotel may be your answer. If you need to get to business meetings in the morning and don't care much about lounging around your hotel room, a loft-style hotel room may be perfect for the New Yorker in you. There is a small living area on the bottom floor of these loft rooms, and a bed, but not room for much else, on the top floor. If you prefer a regular room, however, the Cosmopolitan Hotel can surely accommodate you.

If you and your family would like a comfortable place to spend your nights while sightseeing in Times Square, the La Quinta Inn is your hotel answer. La Quinta has a beautiful view of the Empire State Building, so ask for a room that overlooks the historic tower. If you're looking for some nightlife, check out the rooftop bar, but don't forget to bring the kids down early for their free continental breakfast at this reasonably priced hotel chain.

For a little more country in your city, check out the Chelsea Lodge, where you will nod off to sleep in a beautiful Chelsea brownstone. There are only 36 rooms in the hotel, so you don't have to worry about noise, although you are right in the center of Midtown Manhattan. Although the rooms tend to be cozy and may not be perfect for the whole family to stay in, the rooms are moderately priced enough to book a few 318 W. 20th St., between Eighth and Ninth Avenues
