How to Plan a Trip to Hawaii
Hawaii is a beautiful state filled with endless sites. From
beaches to volcanoes, there is something for everyone of every age. Gather as much information as possible and make the decisions one at a time.
Hit the Net
Start by looking through Hawaii sites online (especially Hawaii's Official Tourism Site). Request brochures from all the islands, cruises and hotels you are even remotely interested in.
Pick a Time
Decide on a time to go. Although the weather is near perfect all year round, there is a little more chance of rain in the winter, and the summer will have more crowds.
Decide on an island... or two... or three...
The four major islands in Hawaii for tourism are Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. It is possible to "island hop" by plane or boat.
Flying
Depending on the city of origin, flights are available from the United States to most of the Hawaiian Islands.
Cruising
Cruise ships go (either one way or roundtrip) from Ensenada, Mexico; Vancouver, Canada; Seattle, Washington; and San Diego or Los Angeles, California.
Considerations
Since Hawaii is made up of islands, expect prices at restaurants and gas stations to be higher than the mainland.
