Palo Alto Hotel Review

The Sheraton Palo Alto has 346 rooms set in a garden-like atmosphere and is at a premier location in Palo Alto, California. There is an outdoor, heated pool, 24-hour business center and an on-site fitness center. There is plenty of meeting space, and the property is a hot spot for weddings and events. The location is perfect for visiting Stanford University, Silicon Valley, San Francisco or points north.
Wows and Woes

Wows: The hotel is smoke free, which is a huge benefit. The resort-like setting is serene and relaxing. Add this to the superior location just off the Stanford campus and it is a winning combination.

Woes: Though there is wireless Internet, it does not come free in the guest rooms, which is somewhat unusual for hotels today. This is especially true in an area teeming with cafes and bookstores providing free connectivity.

Insider Tips

This hotel is pet friendly and will accept dogs up to 80 pounds at no additional charge. If there is time, opt for an in-room massage after your day's activities. If you need free Internet, you can access it in the business center.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I attended a business meeting here and found a little time to explore some of what the area had to offer. I went to San Francisco and walked around the hallowed halls of Stanford, but my favorite part was the little town of Palo Alto. It brings a new meaning to the word "quaint," with its tree-lined avenues dotted with cafes and shops. A real treat on a hectic trip.

Bottom Line

This hotel is pleasant and well situated, but due to its proximity to Stanford and the Silicon Valley it is often fully booked. Plan ahead.
