The Palms Casino
resort is one of the hippest spots in Vegas, closely rivaling the Hard Rock. You'll find an atmosphere of fun and excitement around the balmy
beach-type décor. It is a brightly lit casino with light colors and no ugly carpeting. There's a restaurant for all tastes, but if you like gourmet food, stop at the Alize. It's a little pricey but worth every penny. The Palms also hosts a number of clubs, including a Playboy Club and the Ghost Bar. If you have the money, you can select a themed room, like the Barbie room.
Wows and Woes
Wows
The place is beautiful and hopping with entertainment. The crowd is lively. Besides the Ghost Club, another place to visit is Moon. It has a retractable roof, and the bar is near the pool. One is under the waterfall.
Woes
It might seem petty when you put a hundred dollar bill into a slot machine without worrying, but the additional dollar charge to have access to the phone line can be irritating. You have access to broadband Internet, too, if you pay a fee.
Insider Tips
Walk the whole property and visit all the clubs. Don't forget to call ahead if you plan to go to any of the clubs at the Palms, or you might not get a seat.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
I was fascinated by the pool area. It has three bars, but the best one was under a waterfall. The casino also has a pool with a glass bottom. Beneath it is another bar where you can watch the swimmers above.
Bottom Line
The potential of hobnobbing with celebrities and the bright atmosphere made it worth staying off the Strip. The staff was not just friendly but appealingly chatty.
