Many people who live outside of the state don't know that Arizona weather is varied. Visitors often have a preconceived notion that Arizona is a hot desert--all the time. Contrary to popular belief, Arizona has diverse altitude and terrain. In March, Flagstaff may experience melting snow, whereas those in
Phoenix may be reaching for a light sweater. Remember, if you're visiting Arizona in March, figure out which part of Arizona you'll be visiting. During March, Arizona's mountain elevation (ex. Sedona and Flagstaff) will be experiencing 23F lows and 50F highs. Arizona's desert (ex. Phoenix) will be experiencing 48.8F lows or 75.5 highs.

Step 1
Take a jacket. If you're visiting Northern Arizona, pack a warm jacket. Also, if you're going up north, bring cold-weather accessories, such as scarves, gloves, etc. During evenings, Phoenix may experience chilly desert nights, so you may want to have a jacket just in case.
Step 2
Bring sweaters. If you're visiting Phoenix, a light sweater may be all you need to keep warm. If you're headed north, sweaters can be layered under jackets.
Step 3
Have various bottoms. In Phoenix, March is usually a transition month of switching from pants to shorts. In Northern Arizona, stick with pants.
Step 4
Bring various tops. During the day in Phoenix, you can wear tank tops to long sleeve tops. If you're going north, stick to layering your top with a sweater.
Step 5
Bring different shoes. In Phoenix, some days will require close-toe shoes, while other days may be warmer for sandals. If you're headed to mountain elevation, you can wear closed-toe shoes or sometimes boots.
