Outrigger Waikiki Review

Outrigger Waikiki
Outrigger Waikiki
Located beachfront in the heart of Waikiki, the Outrigger Waikiki presents a culturally inspired setting highlighted by Hawaiian artifacts and historically themed art on display throughout the stunning lobby. Rooms feature tropical wood furnishings and nicely appointed bathrooms that include Noni Papaya shampoos and soaps. On-site dining options include the legendary Duke's Canoe Club, one of the more popular restaurants in Waikiki. For morning coffee, Seattle's Best Coffee is also located on the property. The Waikiki Plantation Spa offers panoramic views from its rooftop location, while cultural activities like lei making and hula lessons are offered.
Wows and Woes

Wows: The hotel upholds a commitment to perpetuating and honoring Hawaiian traditions, making for a truly "kaamaina" experience.

Woes: Parking is an expensive hassle; room rates do not include parking.

Insider Tips

Duke's Canoe House is a bit overpriced. Try the all-you-can-eat salad bar at Chuck's Steakhouse.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

We attended the poi pounding demonstration at the hotel and tasted freshly ground poi (taro) right off a pounding board made of monkeypod. Unlike what some people might think, poi does not taste like wallpaper paste.

Bottom Line

For the ultimate Waikiki experience in the heart of the action, the hotel offers a beachfront location, great restaurants and sterling hospitality. The feeling of Old Hawaii is found throughout.
