This central Florida city is home to an abundance of world class amusement parks and other types of tourist attractions (including gardens and science centers). There is no shortage of exciting ways to spend the weekend while in
Orlando, Florida, especially if you know where to go.
Walt Disney World
Going to Walt Disney World is the ultimate way to spend any weekend. Whether you are a child or an adult, you are likely to be mesmerized by the activities and rides available at Walt Disney World. There are four different theme parks within Walt Disney World, including the Magic Kingdom theme park and Animal Kingdom theme park. Be sure to check out rides ranging from the Kali River Rapids to classics like the Haunted Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios Florida is another terrific weekend getaway option, especially if you are a movie buff. If the idea of exploring replicas of a vast array of film sets appeals to you, from comedy to horror, then you will have a great time at Universal Studios. There are several thrill rides, and an abundance of film-themed exhibitions, such as classics like "Back to the Future," "Terminator 2" and "Jaws."
SeaWorld
SeaWorld Orlando is full of animal related attractions, shows, exhibits and even rides (such as the thrilling "floorless" roller coaster ride known as "Kraken"). If you love marine life and want to see a variety of creatures up close, including dolphins, stingrays, manatees, sea lions, sharks, sea turtles and polar bears, then consider SeaWorld. Also be sure to catch a showing of "Cirque de la Mer," the sea circus.
Harry P. Leu Gardens
Harry P. Leu Gardens is a serene sanctuary located in northern Orlando. Spend your weekend relaxing and basking in calmness, tranquility and natural beauty. There are many beautiful things to explore at these gardens, including a farmhouse, museum, orchid conservatory and the gardens that feature azaleas, roses and camellias.
Warbird Adventures
Warbird Adventures is a great place for daredevils and thrill seekers to spend the weekend. If flying around in a vintage North American T-6 airplane appeals to you, then you are sure to enjoy it. The recreational options include going on dizzying acrobatic adventures high up in the sky to going on more conventional guided tours and witnessing aircrafts from decades past.
Holy Land Experience
Holy Land Experience is a rather unusual recreational area as it is often referred to as a "living Bible." This is a sophisticated recreation of Jerusalem from ancient times. There are Mediterranean dining booths, craft shops and even a smaller scale version of the Temple of the King. There are guided tours available of this indoor version of Jerusalem from thousands of years ago. There are also various exhibitions and multimedia presentations.
