About the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival started in 1935 and is one of the largest nonprofit theater companies in the United States. It is located at the foot of the Siskiyou Mountains in southern Oregon.
The Festival

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a nonprofit repertory theater that plays in Ashland, Oregon. It began as an Independence Day celebration event but quickly became a yearly tradition. Because of its popularity, the festival began to hold longer seasons to accommodate the demand.

Plays

Although the first play to show at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival was "Twelfth Night," the festival has a wide variety of plays ranging from Shakespeare to Broadway hits. There are three stages--one is an Elizabethan theater such as the style Shakespeare used--all of which have different productions running. The OSF also hosts numerous educational activities and functions throughout the season.

Location

The OSF located in Ashland, Oregon, about 180 miles south of Eugene. You can fly into Ashland through the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport (MFR).

Dates

The OSF season runs February to October with an average of 11 productions throughout the season.
