Southern California has lots of things to do all year-round because of its varied landscape with the
beach, mountains, desert and valleys all within hours of each other. In November there are lots of things to do and see, many of which revolve around food and Thanksgiving. Also the weather in November is cooler, making it more pleasant to enjoy some of the desert areas and take in the sights.
San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival
For five days, over 170 wineries and 70 restaurants serve some of the best food and drinks in the world. The festival involves cooking classes, celebrity cookbook signings, wine tasting lessons, auctions and, of course, all the food and wine you can consume. Tickets are available online.

Dana Point Turkey Trot
Take part in the annual Dana Point Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. It's a five or 10 km race (you choose your distance) to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Join 10,000 other individuals as you race along one of the most scenic coastal runs in the country. It's all for a good cause, and you'll have fun getting some exercise in the fresh beach air.

Palm Springs Land Tour
Ride in a Hummer through the expansive desert, seeing some of the Joshua Tree National Park or the infamous San Andreas Fault, origin of many California earthquakes. Some tours will even take you to the Salton Sea, where you can see mud volcanoes and other unusual natural wonders. The tours are all narrated, and have been featured on numerous television shows and programs such as the Travel Channel and the Today Show. A picnic lunch and pick up/drop off services from local hotels is available as well.
