When you're booking a hotel in
New York City, it is easy to become overwhelmed. With so many choices, it is hard to know which hotel is the right hotel.
Types
Some hotels in the downtown area are geared toward business travelers. Other hotels are geared toward tourists. Historical hotels, such as the Waldorf-Astoria, have been around for more than 100 years.
Price
Hotel prices vary greatly based on location and room preferences. A room in Times Square might cost $50 more per night than the same room downtown.
Location
A great place for a first time visitor to stay is Times Square. Consider staying somewhere a little more off the beaten path, such as Midtown or Chelsea, if this is not your first visit.
Amenities
Amenities depend on where you stay. A hotel in Times Square is likely to offer great concierge service. A hotel in the financial district will likely offer business-related amenities, such as free Internet service.
Misconceptions
Not all rooms in New York are small. They are also not all overpriced. Get a great deal by going during the week and during off-peak times of the year, such as in winter after the holidays.
