New England is the name for an area of the
United States that encompasses several states, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. There are so many vacation options in New England, from tranquil sandy

vacation ideas in New England, there are many ideal destinations to consider.
Mystic, Connecticut
Mystic, Connecticut is a maritime area that was busy and bustling back in the 1800s. If you visit it now, it still reflects that glory. This is one of the most famous tourist draws in England. Be sure to check out the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration which has many intriguing aquatic life displays and has detailed information on the career of Robert Ballard, who was the head of the team who found the Titanic wreck. The actual town of Mystic is charming and tranquil, with many restaurants, cafes and little shops. Be sure to take a look at the bascule bridge.
Cape Cod
Cape Cod in Massachusetts is another one of the most famous tourist destinations in New England, spanning over seventy miles of shoreline. Cape Code is an idyllic seaside resort area, and is also ideal for those who like fishing. Cape Cod's canal is also the home to two very elegant bridges: the Sagamore (towards the north) and Bourne (toward the south). If you are looking for a relaxing beach family vacation in New England, then Cape Cod is the place to go.
Appalachian National Scenic Trail
The Appalachian National Scenic Trail is often just referred to as the Appalachian Trail, and passes through Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut. This is an excellent hiking destination, and over three million people do so every year. Most people only hike a portion of the long trail, though some people go through the entire journey. Through the majestic White Mountains of Maine to Vermont's lush Green Mountains, this is a family destination for those who enjoy being outside.
Old Sturbridge Village
Old Sturbridge Village is in central Massachusetts in Sturbridge, and is a replica of an 1800s New England town. This historic area has some sightseeing areas and several restaurants. Be sure to check out Old Sturbridge Village which is a "living museum" that details the history, heritage and culture of New England with traditional arts, crafts and attire. Brimfield is an area close to the village that has many antiques fairs. Wells State Park is a tranquil park that is great for relaxing and recreation.
Gooseberry Beach
Gooseberry Beach is located in scenic Newport, Rhode Island and is a large, bustling beach that is always full of activity. This beach is on Ocean Drive and is a particularly pretty beach that has some fascinating rock formations and is great for recreational activities. There are beautiful mansions surrounding the beach, giving it a sophisticated and quintessentially New England ambiance. This is a fun beach to spend a vacation with the family.
