Location of your hotel means everything. The farther away you are from the main strip, the quieter the hotels are. Get rooms south of Highway 501 and close to the water. If you like people watching and need to be near the action, get a room between 21st and 25th street, where Barefoot Landing and its many bars and clubs are located.
Wows and Woes

Time share sellers are bothersome. If you value your vacation time, you'll steer clear of these.

There is more than enough to buy in Myrtle beach. Shopping at Barefoot Landing or the Tangers Outlets offer wonderful deals.

Insider Tips

The best room deals are before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. Some rooms are 50 percent less during the off season. We stayed at the Landmark for 2 days and got the 3rd free in early March. Avoid Bike Week at all costs!

Driving can be horrid, especially if you miss your turn on North Kings Highway. Do not attempt to take short cuts.

Most Memorable Moment

I have too many to count, since I worked there and vacationed there for four years. Staying at the Landmark resort and venturing down the Lazy River in total peace for 4 summers in a row with my family would be very memorable.

Bottom Line

Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot for a family reunion if you avoid Bike Week and Spring Break.
