Set in the beautiful and rugged Virgin River Valley about 80 miles north of
Las Vegas, the small city of Mesquite, Nevada, boasts an array of attractions. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast, a golfer in search of new picturesque courses or a high-roller looking for action at one of its many casinos, you may find yourself in luck in Mesquite.
Entertainment
Much like with nearby Las Vegas, people come to Mesquite largely to be entertained. Visitors can enjoy a giant menu of restaurants, from fast food to gourmet; a stage full of excitement at Mesquite's many venues, including shows, concerts, and plays; or a game of blackjack at one of the city's vibrant casinos, most of which stay open all night.
Weather & When to Go
Thanks to its high desert location, Mesquite's weather sees significant changes between winter and summer. While January's average high is a chilly 58 degrees, Mesquite's July average high is a scorching 104 degrees. For those looking to spend their time outside air-conditioned casinos, spas and restaurants, the high seasons are spring and fall, when temperatures are more comfortable for golfing or hiking.
Outdoor Attractions
Mesquite's setting in the mountain deserts of Nevada makes it ideal for a host of outdoor activities. Among the most popular are hiking and mountain biking along spectacular trails, driving ATVs in the desert, bouldering, visiting nearby shooting ranges and taking guided nature tours.
Natural Wonders
From Mesquite, you can easily get to such wonders as the historic Hoover Dam, the stunning Valley of Fire State Park, and Cathedral Gorge. A bit farther afield are Great Basin National Park and Utah's fabulous outdoor wonderland, Zion National Park.
