If you're looking for an excellent destination spot when planning a wedding, look no further than Maui. Maui has been given the nickname "The Valley Isle," for the valley between the two volcanic mountains that make up the island. Between the mainland-style development of Maui's resorts and the rugged beauty of the Heavenly Road to Hana and Haleakala National Park, Maui has a little something for everyone.
Resorts

Many of the resorts in Maui lean toward the all-inclusive business model. Although they are not as self-contained as the ones in the Caribbean and Mexico, where the language barrier keeps many tourists inside the resort compounds, the resorts in Maui still offer the services of wedding planners and vendors as well as activity packages that their guests may enjoy. In Wailea, there is the Grand Wailea and the Four seasons. In Kapalua there is the Ritz-Carlton.

Wedding Planners

Destination weddings have become a big business in Maui. So it's not surprising that many wedding vendors will do double-duty as wedding planners. Using a local wedding planner can be helpful because they know and have worked with many of the wedding vendors in the area. This relationship means that they can negotiate lower prices on locations, flowers or food. Going with local also saves you money on the price of shipping items to the island.

Extreme Weddings

Once you've been married, there are so many activities to do in Maui for the honeymoon. From snorkeling to luaus to bicycling down the side of the Haleakala volcano to making the drive to the Heavenly Road to Hana, Maui is packed full of adventure. So why not combine those adventures with your wedding? Over the years, marriage ceremonies in Maui have taken place underwater, on boats or some couples have chartered helicopters to take them to a remote, private wedding. Some destination packages even combine tours and activities to help visitors save even more money.
