More than 120,000 people get married in
Las Vegas each year, making it one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world. Getting married in Las Vegas is easy, which might explain some of the quick, spur-of-the-moment weddings that happen there. Las Vegas weddings are not all tacky and presided over by Elvis impersonators. Wedding chapels in some of the most beautiful Las Vegas hotels offer classy and elegant wedding services for any budget. The two most popular days to get married in Las Vegas are New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day, as well as dates featuring interesting numbers like 9/9/09 and so on. If you want to tie the knot at a destination wedding in Sin City, just follow a few simple steps.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You'll Need:
- Valid ID (driver's license, passport or birth certificate) to prove over 18 years of age
$60 cash for marriage license
- Valid ID (driver's license, passport or birth certificate) to prove over 18 years of age
- $60 cash for marriage license
Step 1
Go to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau in Las Vegas, at 200 South Third Street on the first floor. A clerk will give the bride and groom a wedding license application to fill out; basic information is required from each individual. The application can be printed and filled out ahead of time from the Clark County website, however, the application and cash must be submitted in person.
Step 2
Submit the application with $60 in cash for the application fee. In Las Vegas, there is no blood test required, nor is there a waiting time for approval of the application. Once the clerk verifies identification and signs the form, the bride and groom are officially allowed to wed.
Step 3
Choose a location to perform the ceremony. There are many wedding chapels located throughout the Vegas Strip, so choose one with the style and budget that matches your needs. All of the major hotels on the Strip feature wedding chapels, and there are also chapels throughout Las Vegas dedicated to themed, outdoor or packaged weddings.
Step 4
Keep in mind that getting married on certain days in Las Vegas, such as New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day, is very popular. In order to be sure to get the wedding chapel you want, plan ahead of time. For spur-of-the-moment weddings, the wedding chapels throughout the city will be able to perform ceremonies with little wait.
Step 5
Don't expect a traditional wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. Although the vows are the same, and the minister might provide the same services as at other locations, there are many people who will be getting married in the same chapel throughout the day. This means that there might not be time afterward to mingle with guests in the chapel; you may only be allowed in the chapel during the ceremony itself.
