Wows and Woes
Typical bedroom

Upon check-in guests are welcomed with a drink from the bar and given a quick review of the hotel's facilities. The hotel speaks of luxury, with the ornate art, textiles and beautiful courtyard. The best wow to be had on the property is found in the Southern charm of the service. Guests can expect them to be quick with the doors, drinks and dining. The only woe to be found was a lack of in-room Wi-Fi connections.

Insider Tips

Booking a package reservation will bring travelers some incredible savings on dining at the on-property restaurant, le Meritage. A dinner that would have cost more than $95 off the menu was included in two of the many available package deals. Ask for Charles at the bar if he's working; his drinks are poured with a heavy hand and hearty smile.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

Being interrupted in an embarrassing moment by the turn-down service was not a welcomed surprise. But the complimentary bottle of champagne with a note of "My apologies for breaking your enthusiasm, mon chers" signed by the maid more than made up for the blushed cheeks.

Bottom Line

Luxury comes at a price, but not as much as one might think. The package offerings at the Maison Dupuy make gentry out of even pauper travelers.
