If you are considering a destination wedding near the ocean, but palm trees and coconut oil aren't really your thing, you may want to set your sights northward and consider Maine. A combination of unspoiled wooded area and rugged breathtaking coastlines make it a beautiful choice for a wedding. Alamoosook Lakeside Inn
Located on four wooded acres in Orland, Maine, the Alamoosook Lakeside Inn has been in existence for more than 45 years. The inn offers lakeside ceremonies and receptions in the lakeside dining room. The room is 1600 square feet and can accommodate up to 150 guests. There is also a 1000 square foot dance area and bar service. The in-house catering service features organically grown local fare and offers a variety of menus, including, plated, buffet, lakeside cookouts and traditional lobster bakes. In addition to the menu, inn staffers can assist with hiring outside vendors and arrange an official for the ceremony. This lakeside property features six sleeping rooms each with its own private bath. Finally, there are numerous activities to entertain your guests.

Manor Inn
Located on the breathtaking Maine coastline is the Manor Inn. Located in Castine, it is a beautiful location for small to medium size weddings. Ceremonies take place on the Manor lawn or the living room. For religious ceremonies, Castine offers four churches, Catholic, Unitarian, Trinitarian and Episcopal, all located near the venue. The indoor reception room can accommodate up to 150 guests while the large tented outdoor area is available for up to 250. Whether you are planning a cocktail hour or buffet dinner, the Manor Inn offers specialized menus that can be customized for your event. Booking your wedding here will require your party to rent all 14 of the Manors sleeping rooms and a deposit.

Pilgrim's Inn
Located on Deer Isle, this historic property overlooks Northwest Harbor and provides a stunning backdrop for a wedding. Ceremonies can be held outdoors pond side or in front of a beautiful pine barn. The property specializes in smaller events. It can accommodate an indoor reception of up to 70 people in the restaurant and bar area and tented outdoor receptions for up to 100. The Pilgrim's Inn offers sleeping accommodations for up to 30 and requires a two-night minimum stay for wedding guests. Menus range from casual to formal, and while the Pilgrim's Inn does not offer wedding planning services staffers can recommend local vendors that can provide assistance. The Inn operates May through October.
