The Alamo

The Alamo is a historic mission and fortress that played an important part in the Texas Revolution. The turning point of this war took place at the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, when a small group of determined soldiers held off an enormous Mexican invasion. The building has been carefully restored to its original glory, and now houses a museum about the Texas Revolution and the soldiers who fought in it. Today, the Alamo is a symbol of American determination and pride, and is one of the most popular historic sites in the country. Admission is free, and daily tours are available.

The San Antonio River Walk is a sunken pedestrian plaza that is located a full story below the streets of San Antonio. It winds along the San Antonio River, where boats transport visitors to various locations along the way. Both sides of the river are lined with bars, shops, restaurants and hotels, making this a popular attraction for locals and visitors alike. Many festivals are held in this area throughout the year, and it is one of the few places in Texas where open containers of alcohol are permitted without restriction.
