If you're heading to
Las Vegas, plan a morning or afternoon away from the slot machines. This desert town offers an abundance of packages for golfers who need a break from the lights and sounds of the casinos.
Time Frame
Vegas is in the high desert. As such, summer time temperatures can be brutal. Golfing is still possible, but make sure your package includes an early morning start to avoid the heat.
Significance
You can save up to 25 percent or more from your total bill by booking a package that includes both golf and hotel. The Las Vegas Golf Adventures Website handles the actual booking of your tee times and hotel. It passes its negotiated rates to you in total savings. See Resources.
Considerations
Make sure any golf package you book has clear terms. Many packages quote only weekday play and hotel stays on their site; weekends can be significantly more expensive.
Function
A package typically involves two rounds of golf and two nights stay in a Vegas hotel with transportation provided by bus to the course for large groups golfing together. Most packages can be modified to specify a particular course or hotel or to extend your stay.
Fees
In 2009, a two-night, two-course package averaged $300 for a weekday package and $400 for a weekend package.
