Kauai is one of the seven main islands that make up the state of Hawaii. Considered one of the least tourist focused of the islands, Kauai offers abundant
beach opportunities as well as amazing coastline trips to hidden
beaches. Beaches run the gamut from family friendly to those best reserved for surfers.
Poipu Beach
Located on the South Shore, Poipu beach offers a great blend of swimming options. The left side of the beach has a sheltered area perfect for swimming with kids. The right side is ideal for snorkeling.
Anahola Beach
A good spot year round, Anahola offers a safe environment for families and children to swim. The reef located nearby is also a good spot for snorkeling as well as those learning to scuba dive.
Hanakapiai Beach
At the beginning of the Na Pali coastline, Hanakapiai beach is too rough for swimming, but it does provide a nice break as you're hiking the Kalalau Trail. Hiking just past the beach takes you to beautiful Hanakapi'ai Falls.
Hideaways Beach
Located near Princeville, Hideaways beach offers a long, sandy stretch of beach perfect for playing games and lounging in the sun. It takes about 10 minutes to get Hideaways from the road, so it tends to be less populated.
Kalapaki Beach
This beach is in front of the Marriott Waiohai Vacation resort and opens to Nawilwili Bay. It's great for swimming, body surfing, boogie boarding and wind surfing.
