Leopard's Lair, the children's play area.
The Kalahari
resort is in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, a tourist town on the banks of the Wisconsin River. The two-building, African-themed resort has 1,262 rooms and is decorated with lush greenery, African maps, artifacts and numerous carved animal statues indigenous to
Africa. Kalahari is a resort in the truest sense of the word. You will find everything you need in one convenient location. The resort has numerous restaurants, specialty candy stores, a salon and spa, a movie theater, a nightclub and the world's largest indoor water park.
Wows and Woes
Wows: The indoor water park has slides, rides and play areas for all ages. The Master Blaster water roller-coaster provides a huge rush for thrill-seekers.
Woes: The children's play area is spread out and can make it difficult to keep up with younger children who need supervision.
Insider Tips
The water park cost is included for each person in your party for every day of your stay. When booking a reservation, be sure to ask about Kalahari's specials. Some specials even include meals. If your family does not want a sitdown breakfast, then head to the Kalahari Outpost, where you can pick up a variety of cereals, muffins, milk and juices.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
The caramel- and chocolate-dipped apples at the Sweet Hut.
We visited during mid-May and received a room upgrade to a two-room suite due to low occupancy. Eating breakfast at the Ivory Coast Lounge Restaurant was delicious. We also had the best time picking out caramel- and chocolate-covered apples from the Sweet Hut. The Kalahari Resort is a wonderful place for a family to enjoy lots of fun.
Bottom Line
The resort is a little more expensive than other area resorts, but the rooms are more spacious and the indoor water park is much larger with many more rides.
