Japanese Restaurants in Memphis
When one thinks of dining out in Memphis, Tennessee, it is probably safe to say that sushi isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But if you are in the home of Elvis and looking for something a little different than barbecue or Southern home cooking, there are a number of healthy, delicious and well-reputed Japanese options that have sprung up around the metro Memphis area.
Do Sushi Restaurant
Trendy and chic-looking, Do Sushi will not break the bank. The space is small and reservations often are necessary, but this makes it a good date-night option. Do Sushi is known for its fresh ingredients and delicious sushi, though there are numerous menu options available aside from the usual sushi and sashimi fare, such as pork and pineapple satay and kobe beef curry noodle soup. A full sushi dinner at Do Sushi often will not run more than $20.00 per person (as of March 2010), making it an economical choice for Memphis natives and tourists.

Bluefin Restaurant
Located in downtown Memphis, Bluefin is known for its trendy atmosphere (think blue lighting and plush couches for diners) and even trendier menu, which the pricing reflects. In addition to sushi, there are a variety of appetizers, salads (with ingredients such as mozzarella and hanger steak), and gourmet pizza options for finicky eaters who might not be too keen on the whole sushi idea. Because of its downtown location, Bluefin is a place tourists can easily reach from their hotel, or a group enjoying a night out can visit before moving on to a live music venue or other form of nightlife.

Edo Japanese Restaurant
Edo, on average, earns solid to great ratings from the tough reviewers on citysearch.com---no easy feat. Citing the friendly atmosphere, affordable pricing and delicious, traditional, no-frills sushi menu, customers heap high praise on Edo for consistently good food and service. Edo is small and doesn't take reservations, but waiting rarely seems to be an issue, and the family feel of the place is real---children often are seen doing their homework at a table in the back and the owners sometimes wait tables themselves.
