ComedySportz features improvisational teams battling for the audience's laughter, complete with a referee, and has fans ages 7 to 70, according to the club's website. Located in downtown
Chicago, ComedySportz is less than a mile west of Belmont Harbor and the 18-mile lakefront trail along Lake Michigan. For an Italian dinner before a show at ComedySportz, several options are available within a 10-block radius.
Sapori Trattoria

Sapori Trattoria serves upscale Italian fare created by a Chicago native with Southern Italian roots. Open nightly for dinner, Sapori Trattoria features a complete menu of appetizers such as bruschetta and calamari, soup, salads, risotto, seafood entrees, pasta and meat entrees. House specialties include baby back ribs, osso bucco and zuppa di Pesce, a Sapori classic featuring six types of fresh seafood in a red sauce with linguine. An extensive wine list is available by the glass or bottle as well as espresso and Italian desserts. Sapori Trattoria is located nine blocks south of ComedySportz at the intersection of West Schubert Avenue and North Halsted Street or two stops away on the Brown Line subway.
Giordano's Pizzeria

For casual dining two blocks west of ComedySportz, Giordano's Pizzeria offers famous Chicago-style stuffed pizza and a complete menu of Italian fare. Founded in 1974, Giordano's has 55 locations across Chicago and in Florida and was voted "Best Pizza in America" by NBC, according to the restaurant's website. The menu includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pasta in small or large portions and thin crust pizza in four sizes or stuffed pizzas in three sizes. Allow at least 35 minutes if you plan to order a Giordano's stuffed pizza before a show at ComedySportz or call for takeout or delivery.
Fianco
Fianco features handmade ravioli.
Fianco serves dinner nightly in a brick-walled upscale casual atmosphere with outdoor seating and wines listed on a chalkboard. A creative menu features appetizers such as mussels and octopus, salads, handmade ravioli and entrees such as scallops, duck meatballs, short ribs and slow-roasted steelhead trout. The wine list at fianco features Italian reds and whites and desserts are available if time allows before the shows at ComedySportz. Hop on the Brown Line for a three-minute trip to ComedySportz from Fianco or stroll five blocks south on Southport and six blocks east on Belmont Avenue.
