New York City is now one of the world's largest and most vibrant cities. New York, or The City That Never Sleeps, is alive 24 hours a day, thanks to its impressive public transportation and the millions of tourists that visit The Big Apple. Very few cities in the
United States have the history, the tradition and the cutting edge that New York does.
New Amsterdam
The Dutch founded New Amsterdam in 1614 as a trading post; in 1664, it came under control by the British, and was later renamed New York.
Capitol of the United States
New York was the capitol of the United States from 1785 to 1790.
Largest US City
New York is currently the largest city in the United States, with a population of over 8 million people.
