Sanibel Island is a beautiful place to enjoy the expansive
beaches without the traditional crowds found in other tourist destinations in Florida. The atmosphere is laid back, and the city is cozy and receptive to those who choose to visit. The weather is beautiful year round and very hot during the summer months. Accommodations include hotels, rooms for rent, and houses for rent.
Natural Beaches
The beaches of Sanibel Island are long and undisturbed. They aren't packed with sunbathers like many other Florida beaches, and you should be able to find a spot for your umbrella quite easily. If you want peace and quiet then Sanibel's beaches are a great place to visit.
Paved Bike Paths
Bikers will appreciate the 25 miles of paved bike paths around the island. It's a great way to explore the island and get some exercise, too. Take your own bike or rent a bike when you arrive.
No High Rises
There are no high-rise hotels or other high-rise buildings on the island.
No Stoplights
The island is small, and there are no stoplights. Driving around the island is easy, and there is minimal traffic. Many tourists park their cars and explore on foot or bicycle.
Things to Do
There are many things to do on Sanibel Island. Check out the bike rentals, golf, cruises, shelling, fishing, tennis, boat and kayak rental, and of course the beautiful beaches.
Location
Sanibel Island is located on the coast of Southwest Florida about 30 minutes from Fort Meyers. There is a toll bridge to the island.
