Home to the Kentucky Derby and the Muhammad Ali Center, the city of Louisville offers trolley hops to local art galleries, taking in a show at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts, or heckling a comedian at the Improv Comedy Club inside Fourth Street Live. After all that sightseeing, a Louisville visitor needs to enjoy a meal in town. Venturing out of downtown and into Louisville's neighborhoods is the way to find the Indian cuisine Louisville has to offer.
Shalimar Restaurant
Located in the east end of Louisville, Shalimar is an Indian restaurant that is family owned and has been in existence for over a decade. Hosting a lunch buffet everyday of the week, Shalimar has affordable options for each customer. For the health conscious, the Tandoori, or clay oven, dishes are grilled, not fried to offer a low carb and low cholesterol option to diners. Shalimar offers a wine, beer and specialty cocktail list with domestics and imports to complement your dish. There are beers on the drink list imported from India; these beers include Taj Mahal and Maharaja, and specialty mixed cocktails named Bombay Toddy and Madras.
