A thirteenth birthday party can be difficult to plan because the kids aren't quite children anymore but aren't yet full blown teenagers who go out on their own and have their own agendas. Thus keeping all your thirteen-year-old guests happy can be a challenge. This is why a restaurant birthday party is a great choice, because everyone loves food! California has lots of great restaurants, but these are some of the best choices for a thirteenth birthday party because they combine great food with a fun atmosphere to ensure the party will be a hit.
Dave and Busters
This is a fun-filled restaurant with family friendly cuisine that provides something for everything. They have burgers, salads, pizzas, chicken and beef entrees and more. It's a place that teens can be loud and make a mess then go play video games and table games in the arcade. They also win tickets for their gaming efforts that they can later exchange for prizes. Depending on the size of your party you can reserve a private room to keep everyone contained during meal time or just claim a section of the large restaurant. Buffet set-ups, party platters and even drink plans (for the adults) are available as another food option. There are locations in San Jose, Irvine, Ontario, Orange, San Diego and Santa Anita (see Resources).
Rainforest Cafe
Rainforest Cafe is a fun setting that makes you feel like you're in the middle of a rainforest. With animated animals in all corners, things flying around the ceiling and an hourly "thunder storm," it's a fun little adventure for your thirteen-year-old. They can set up a party area and some locations have specialized rooms that come with a birthday package that includes photos, souvenior cups and more. Plus the food is absolutely delicious and nutritious. They have salads, sandwiches, shrimp and chicken. Later everyone can walk through the store and browse all the goodies. There are locations in Costa Mesa, Anaheim, Ontario and San Francisco (see Resources).
Pirates Dinner Adventure
The Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park is a great option. It's a dinner served to you while enjoying a live pirate show in a large arena-like atmosphere. The teens will love the excitement and surprise of the show, the great food served and the chance to be loud and goof around a little. It's one party they will remember forever. Tickets in 2009 are $56.96 (age 11+), but if you book online you can get $10 off each ticket. Shows are nightly with two performances on Saturdays and Sundays.
